The Sanctuary is a lovely place, really. Libraries and labs and gardens and excellent company.

But sometimes Nikola needs a little space. Or just to unwind for a bit.

So tonight, you'll find him sitting in a corner booth at a local bar, expensive scotch in hand, observing the room.

As Leo casually cleans the counter for almost the billionth time that night; his eyes drift to the corner booth. He is surprised to not see a giggling group of college students hamming it up; but a thin man with a casual air and steady drinking hand sitting quietly.
With a thoughtful second glance Leo notes the calculative way the strange man surveys the room, it's almost like he is a king observing his subjects.

Nikola has spent the majority of his life being watched, and he picks up on it pretty quickly by now.

So, before long, his gaze travels to the bartender, and he smirks at the man, in a way that is more predatory than friendly.

Narrowing his eyes, a dark look graces Leo's face, he isn't one to tuck tail in run over such a thing. He gestures to the open bar, and waits for the man to make his move.

Nikola arches an eyebrow and finishes his scotch before standing and heading for the bar. (Someone that tall and skinny really shouldn't give off an aura of a cat stalking its prey, but he does.)

He sets his empty glass on the counter in a silent request for a refill.

This guy is good, lesser men would undoubtedly be intimidated by the predator-like aura he carried with each step, but Leo is unfazed.

Nodding,Leo slings the towel over his shoulder,refills the glass, and puts it onto the counter with a look of challenge, he isn't about to start the conversation.

Nikola takes a slow sip and sets his glass down.

"You're shy. I get that. I tend to have that effect on people. I'll start then." He offers his hand. "Nick."

Leo doesn't buy the casual introduction, he has no doubt this guy is way more then he seems, but for now he can play along.

Schooling his face into a somewhat sheepish look, Leo smiles and takes the hand; "Leo Joveson."

"Nice to meet you, Leo," Nikola says with a smile, holding his hand just a little too long.

"Was there any particular reason you were staring at me, or is it just my generally...magnetic personality?"

"You too man." He shrugs and gestures to the booth in the corner, "It was surprising to see you there, you get used to giant bundles of college kids who can't hold there liquor."

"Yes, well," Nikola murmurs, taking another sip. "I've recently had to find a new regular bar. I thought I might try this one out."

Leo nods, and puts the bar towel on a hook, unknowingly giving Nikola a good view of his strong back muscles, "The Naid is a good bar, I think you'll like it in here man."

Nikola's gaze just get's that much more predatory.

"You don't know anything about me. How can you be so sure?"

Somewhat surprised by the grin, he offers a friendly one in return hoping to diffuse the creepy feeling that just washed over him, and gives him a once over: he knows this guy has power,
he can see it in the gestures and charm, but instead of voicing his findings Leo just shrugs and gestures to the scotch; "you can tell a lot about a guy, by what he drinks."

He smirks. "And you think a college hangout is the perfect bar for a scotch drinker."

Snorting Leo gestures around the room, indicating the lack of rambunctious college students. "Normally were actually pretty classy, most of the college kids only come in here on the weekends for the bands, and pretending they know what a Naiad is so they can look smart in front of their buddies."

"What is the world coming to that college students no longer know what a naiad is?" Nikola asks with a smirk.

"A horrible place man, I mean really half of them can't even pronounce it, think it's French."

"Classical studies and linguistics are failing? I fear for the state of humanity at large."

Or he would, y'know, if he cared about that sort of thing.

Looking deeply affronted at the state of things, Leo nods.

His eyes narrow a moment later it takes him a bit to recognize it, but he knows that kind of word choice ; "You're a scientist or something aren't you?"

Nikola chuckles softly.

"Or something, yes."

"I'm guessing not for ancient culture and things right?"

"I'm not an anthropologist or an archaeologist, no."

"Huh." His eyes narrow in thought,"Technology?"

"I dabble," Nikola says with a shrug.

And if it bothers him not to be able to brag, he doesn't show it.

"Cool, a friend of mine is into that kind of thing." Of course Leo knows that is an understatement of epic proportions, but Nick doesn't have to know that.
