OFA: Mistletoe gets *everywhere*

Nikola may not be as observant as James is, but he's by no means oblivious.

That said, he is kind of enthralled by this whole zombie project (that he's continued working on despite his argument with Owen. Damn it for being so fascinating). As such, he's completely failed to notice the sprig of mistletoe the Big Guy managed to put up in his lab.

When he finds out the creep in the room with the hair has been poking about in his lab, he'll probably be irate, but in the meantime...this could be fun?

Raya makes her way down to the lab, and says nothing about the mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, stepping carefully out from directly underneath it.

"What are you working on?"

Nikola doesn't glance up from his work when she enters. "A side project."

"Aside from the obvious."

At least the collar's empty. It stopped clicking. And so now it's just a matter of coming off everything's residual effects.

He glances up at her lazily. "How was that obvious?"

If he notices the lack of clicking, he says nothing about it.

"You're bent over something with your back to the door, I'm going to assume you're working on something."

She takes a seat, and carefully folds her legs up to her chest.

"You also assume that something is a side project? It could be something for Helen."

[x_coriare]

"Is it?"

Conversation that has nothing to do with her is good.

[ps_you_look_hot]

"Did I not just say it was a side project? Isn't that how we got into this tedious conversation in the first place?"

"Well then, let's switch the topic. What is your side project?"

[ps_you_look_hot]

"If I were likely to tell you that, I'd have done so already."

"Fair enough."

Raya's content to sit somewhere other people aren't going to come up and ask her how she's doing or if she's excited about the holidays. Right here is great for that, she thinks, wrapping her arms around her knees.

"Do you mind if I watch you work?"

"Not so long as you don't bother me."

She moves close enough to see what he's doing, but doesn't say anything further for a long while.

She only smiles at the mistletoe he seems to be standing under.

Oh, yes. With so much on her plate, Helen hardly even remembers Nikola's around. It makes her a little suspicious when he's being so quiet. It's almost more dangerous not to hear from him than for him to be making trouble. Thus, Helen found herself meandering down by his lab (under the pretence of another round of inspection for mistletoe in the halls). Alas, even she didn't know the Big Guy got into his lab, too, else she wouldn't have wandered in with her warm cup of egg nog in hand.

"You've been quiet lately," she points out.

So it's Christmas, and that means even vampires need mildly scruffy kisses on the cheek. He's been training and Henry can't help wondering if he just might have the reflexes to get the vamp.

"Hey, Count, I'm doing a parts order if you need anything," he starts cheerfully.

Nikola is completely buried in his work, but eventually he has to move to get a piece of equipment from behind him. When he does he notices her smiling.

"What?"

Nikola glances up at her, smiling faintly. "Have I?"

[ps_you_look_hot]

Nikola doesn't even glance up, though he does smile to himself a little at the 'Count.' "There's a list by the door."

Raya laughs lightly, and points up above him. She's a few feet out from underneath any of it, by careful observation of vacant spots.

"Look what you're standing under."

Will's just closed his email on his phone, when he drops by the lab and can't help noticing even Tesla isn't immune.

"Spending all evening under the mistletoe?" he teases, looking up.

Henry grabs the list and walks over to Tesla as he reads it over. "You really need four of these?" he points at an item. "I thought I just had two in storage."

Nikola looks up, brow furrowed in confusion for a moment before he follows the direction of Will's gaze.

He frowns briefly and says dryly, "Well, you know how desperate I am for affection."

Nikola glances up. "Christ," he mutters, rolling his eyes.

"That's why I need four more," Nikola says, smirking slightly.

"Right," he can't agree without smirking. "Having people find you witty, attractive and interesting is a constant struggle for you, isn't it?"
