OFA: In the library

Nikola is getting rusty.

But he has a good enough memory that despite the fact that it's been a good twenty years since he sat down at a piano, he's doing a fairly decent job of making his way through Au Claire de la Lune.

He doesn't play well, but he plays with great expression.

Nikola pretends to consider this, fingers still moving across the keys. "I'm useless at badminton."

"That's all right then," Will shrugs. "Badminton players can remain confidant and unchallenged."

He leans on the wall, not sure if he should step any further towards the piano. "Maybe I should try it."

"Badminton? Or piano?"

"I was thinking badminton." Will advances a step.

"Though I do play a little," he nods toward the piano. He's on the other end of the spectrum, his technique is solid but his soul never gets into his fingers. "Not with your panache."

Nikola smirks. "Panache? Is that a polite way of saying I take too many liberties?"

As always, Nikola's wording is left just vague enough that he may not be talking about the piano.

The flash of guilt reminds Will that he was the one who took too many.

"Perhaps not with music," he starts, then corrects himself. "There is something to be said for artistic abandon."

Here comes Nikola's most wicked smile. "There's something to be said for abandon in all sorts of situations."

"Lustful abandon?" Will teases back, wondering what lines he'll cross this time.

"Not something you'd know much about, I'm sure," Nikola says. His teasing has a harsh edge to it.

Will winces, then shrugs. "You're right. Doing anything with emotions but studying them is not my forte."

"Nothing to do with emotions, really. Unless you consider lust an emotion."
