OFA: In the library

Nikola is getting rusty.

But he has a good enough memory that despite the fact that it's been a good twenty years since he sat down at a piano, he's doing a fairly decent job of making his way through Au Claire de la Lune.

He doesn't play well, but he plays with great expression.

Will's lips are dry and he takes almost a minute to force them to make sounds. "Wow," he whispers slowly. "Really, wow."

Nikola laughs and moves up the bed, settling down on his side next to Will. "Best you've ever had?"

"I was thinking best that's ever had me," Will rephrases, moving his fingers slowly as the feeling returns to them. Everything tingles, even his ears. "I'm an idiot for holding out."

"No argument there," Nikola says, grinning and stretching.

"I guess that's what you learn from a century of experience," Will murmurs, resting his hands on his chest as he catches his breath. "Unless you've just always been that good." He wouldn't be surprised.

"Not quite that good," Nikola says. "But I like to think there was at least a little natural talent involved."

As he speaks, he reaches over to trail his fingers lightly along Will's skin, over his stomach and chest.

Will watches his fingers and then turns his head towards Nikola, fascinated. "How do you, that spark thing," he says softly. "You have full control over it?"

"For the most part," Nikola says. "There's a limit to how much electricity I can produce, but the control I have over what I can produce is extensive."

There are, of course, moments when his control slips, but they're rare.

"I'd say," Will agrees, still fascinated by the bursts of electricity and the tingling aftermath in his skin. The sexual side of it is probably jut a useful bonus. "And that just came with the source blood?"

"It did," Nikola says. "Though, as with all of us, the Source merely activated dormant genes."

He smirks. "Do you always interrogate your partners post coitus?"

"No, I--" Will scratches his head and leans back on the pillow sheepishly. "Sorry. I might, actually. I don't mean to be noisy, it's just an incredible kind of thing. Most of my partners don't-" he corrects, "-I guess I don't stick around that long."

Nikola chuckles at that. "I wouldn't have pegged you for a one night stand sort of person."

Will chuckles dryly. "I'm not, really. I-" he rolls his eyes up towards the ceiling. "I used to have nightmares. Didn't really make me the best company. It was easier to just get myself out of the way."

"I see," Nikola says, arching an eyebrow. "So it was out of consideration for the other person that you skipped out on the afterglow."

"Sort of," he sighs, it makes him sound like a jerk. "If I fell asleep next to someone, I'd wake up screaming. They're sympathetic a few times, then I just started feeling like a jerk."

"Understandable," Nikola says. He's never suffered from nightmares himself, but he is a very light sleeper.

"Do you still have them?"

"Not anymore," Will sighs in relief. "Joined up, met the big guy, I guess I just got better."

"Good," Nikola says. "Otherwise, I'd have to kick you out."

As it is, he seems ill-inclined to do that, just settles in comfortably next to Will.

"And ruin the afterglow?" Will retorts lightly. He'd deserve it. Being held is amazingly relaxing.

"And you always sleep well."

"I don't have nightmares," Nikola agrees.

Which is not the same thing, really.

"Do you sleep as little as Magnus does?" Will wonders.

"I'm not sure how much Helen sleeps," Nikola says.

He's very good at dodging questions.

"Neither much nor particularly deeply," Will elaborates and runs his fingers along Nikola's arm. "I've been wondering if it's a 'source-blood' abnormal thing."

"I think that's mostly a case of Helen worrying too much."

"Weight of the world," Will shrugs a little. "How do you avoid it? Feeling like you're responsible for everything."
