OFA: In the library

Nikola is getting rusty.

But he has a good enough memory that despite the fact that it's been a good twenty years since he sat down at a piano, he's doing a fairly decent job of making his way through Au Claire de la Lune.

He doesn't play well, but he plays with great expression.

Nikola chuckles at that. "I wouldn't have pegged you for a one night stand sort of person."

Will chuckles dryly. "I'm not, really. I-" he rolls his eyes up towards the ceiling. "I used to have nightmares. Didn't really make me the best company. It was easier to just get myself out of the way."

"I see," Nikola says, arching an eyebrow. "So it was out of consideration for the other person that you skipped out on the afterglow."

"Sort of," he sighs, it makes him sound like a jerk. "If I fell asleep next to someone, I'd wake up screaming. They're sympathetic a few times, then I just started feeling like a jerk."

"Understandable," Nikola says. He's never suffered from nightmares himself, but he is a very light sleeper.

"Do you still have them?"

"Not anymore," Will sighs in relief. "Joined up, met the big guy, I guess I just got better."

"Good," Nikola says. "Otherwise, I'd have to kick you out."

As it is, he seems ill-inclined to do that, just settles in comfortably next to Will.

"And ruin the afterglow?" Will retorts lightly. He'd deserve it. Being held is amazingly relaxing.

"And you always sleep well."

"I don't have nightmares," Nikola agrees.

Which is not the same thing, really.

"Do you sleep as little as Magnus does?" Will wonders.

"I'm not sure how much Helen sleeps," Nikola says.

He's very good at dodging questions.

"Neither much nor particularly deeply," Will elaborates and runs his fingers along Nikola's arm. "I've been wondering if it's a 'source-blood' abnormal thing."

"I think that's mostly a case of Helen worrying too much."

"Weight of the world," Will shrugs a little. "How do you avoid it? Feeling like you're responsible for everything."

"It's quite simple really," Nikola says. "I know that I'm not."

Will smiles a little. "That must be nice. Certainly easier to live with."

"Easier to sleep too," Nikola points out, smirking.

"Sorry," Will turns his head towards Nikola. "Just tell me to shut up. I don't get to ask a lot of questions of the immortal."

"Curiosity is healthy," Nikola says. "You can ask as many questions as you like."

He just may not answer all of them.

"Do you outgrow your lovers as they age or do you never stay with anyone long enough to find out?"

Not that Will's looking for an invitation, he's really just wondering.

Nikola chuckles. "Worried already, William?"

Not that he thinks Will's really looking for an invitation, but he can't resist.

"No, no, I get it," he thinks so. "I just. You're always going to be as attractive as you are now and other people...we're moving away from you."

"Very true," Nikola says. "But I can't say I've ever been with someone long enough for it to become an issue."

Either he or the other person has always become fed up with the relationship long before that.

Nikola smirks. "Well, I've already told you about Bosie. And there was one particularly memorable evening with Sarah Bernhardt..."
