OFA: In the library

Nikola is getting rusty.

But he has a good enough memory that despite the fact that it's been a good twenty years since he sat down at a piano, he's doing a fairly decent job of making his way through Au Claire de la Lune.

He doesn't play well, but he plays with great expression.

"Sorry," Will yawns behind his hand and appreciates that Nikola picked one to start out with.

"Yes, I suppose you could invent things you needed but you'd have to start with iron and work your way up, wouldn't you?"

Nikola chuckles. "You've been to Bhalasaam. Did that look like Iron Age technology?"

"Right," Will shakes his head and looks down at Nikola's chest. He's really still impressed by Nikola's naked chest. "Okay, well then, at least in the new age, things will be beautiful and the cities will be better organised."

"Do you miss the Victorian age at all?"

Nikola tracks Will's gaze and smirks to himself.

"Only the fashion," he says.

"I suppose the hats and the jackets were much better," Will thinks, still fairly distracted by the smooth flesh of Nikola's chest.

"And the corsets," Nikola points out, highly amused at Will's perusal of his chest.

"If you're going to look, you might as well touch."

Sounding like an idiot will be unavoidable if he comments. Will bites his lip. "I don't know a better word." He likes the lines, the way muscles of his chest are almost architectural. "And yes, obviously I need to work on my vocabulary."

"I wasn't questioning your vocabulary," Nikola says. "More your aesthetic."

"I'd think find you aesthetically pleasing would be useful."

"It's certainly useful," Nikola agrees.

"It's not that I don't find you attractive dressed, I do, there's just something nice about this." Will runs his fingers down towards Nikola's stomach, then up again.

"And you don't even need to work out."

Nikola shivers slightly under Will's fingers. "I hardly look like I work out," he says.

He's fully aware that he's pale and skinny.

Will does work out, a little, but it's more about trying to stay alive than watching his figure.

"If I liked rippling muscles, I'd be down the hall."

Whatever the reason behind it, Nikola appreciates the results.

He chuckles quietly. "I suppose I was under the impression you weren't here because you found me physically attractive."

"The force of your personality was simply too compelling for me to resist?"

"Something like that," Nikola says dryly. "If it had been merely a case of physical attraction, you likely wouldn't have taken so long to give in."

"I'd say it was complicated," he smiles and feels like an idiot. "I don't know. I was afraid and stupid and not quite sure what I was thinking." He cocks his head.

"Did you have a man or a woman first?"

Nikola smirks at that confession, but he refrains from agreeing with Will about the stupid part.

"A woman," he says, smiling a little at the memory.

Will's hand stops flat on Nikola's chest. "What was she like? Some dilettante who seduced you?"

Nikola chuckles. "Not at all. She was a radical. A Marxist. I met her in Graz at the polytechnic."

"Workers unite," Will quips, feeling Nikola laugh through his fingers. "First man?" This he's quite curious about.

"Much later," Nikola says. "An actor. We met at Oxford, and he used to invite me up to London on the weekends."
