OFA: In the library

Nikola is getting rusty.

But he has a good enough memory that despite the fact that it's been a good twenty years since he sat down at a piano, he's doing a fairly decent job of making his way through Au Claire de la Lune.

He doesn't play well, but he plays with great expression.

Will ponders his own morality for a moment, watching Tesla's hands and focusing on his wrists. Tesla's not a patient, he'd never allow himself to be.

"And now you're your own man."

"I suppose you could say that," Nikola says. "Growing up...we were dominated by my father's beliefs. But there comes a time in everyone's life when they realize their father is not perfect."

Nikola's realization just carried a bit stronger of a pendulum swing than most.

"Did you kill him?" It's a fair question, but Will asks it with a smile, in case he was supposed to be joking.

"I'm pretty sure my dad was less-than-reputable," he offers, putting on a bad British accent for the end.

"Nothing so Dostoevsky," Nikola says, chuckling a little at the accent. "He died of natural causes. Nothing even remotely suspicious about it. I had no reason to kill him."

"I'll make sure the fan club doesn't find out it was so banal. So, killing requires reason?"

Nikola arches an eyebrow at him. "What sort of person do you think I am, William?"

"Someone very dangerous, yet entirely fascinating?"

"You think I'd kill without reason. That's not dangerous, that's monstrous."

"Forgive me," he sighs. "My imagination gets away with me. There's certainly plenty of reasons to kill the Cabal."

"More than enough," Nikola agrees. "Even for someone without my...dubious morality."

"I just can't stop putting my foot in my mouth around you, can I?"

"You do seem to have quite the knack."

"Perhaps I'm just outgunned, between you, Watson and Magnus I'm three centuries behind on life experience."

"Maybe I'm waiting to be punished and taught my place." He does love the way Tesla's eyes flash.

And flash they do. "Careful there, William. That's a road I'm not sure you're ready for just yet."

"Probably not," he crosses his arms over his chest. "Though, I can hope it won't take me fifty years."

"If it does, you'd better hope there's something better than Viagra by then, or you'll have missed out entirely."

"Maybe I'll go bionic," he shrugs. "Seems to work for Watson."

Nikola smirks. "If you expect me to make you a suit like Watson's, I'll definitely want payment in trade."

"What could someone like me possibly offer someone of your taste, expertise and discernment?" Will deadpans and wonders if it'll descend further into innuendo. He is really starting to enjoy it.

"Well, when you put it like that..." Nikola gives him a blatant once over. "Nothing."

"Right." Will scratches his chin. "I should leave you to your piano then."

Nikola shrugs. "If you like. You're not bothering me, really." It's as close as Will's likely to get to an invitation to stay.

"When did you start piano?" he wonders. "Mother's idea?"
